Ask before you send
Some goods need special packing or labels, or can travel only with certain shipping services. Carriers also treat some everyday products as hazardous materials. Tell us about the goods below before you ship them to us, and wait for our answer.
- Perishable goods and anything that needs temperature control
- Lithium batteries and items that contain them
- Liquids
- Aerosols
- Cosmetics and supplements
- High-value items, so that their value can be declared in writing before they arrive
- Oversized or very heavy items
- Fragile items
- Magnets
The quote form asks what you sell, so we can answer before your goods travel.
If you are not sure
These lists cover the main cases, not every product. If you are not sure about a product, ask us first. Please describe your goods accurately and tell us when a product is on one of these lists.
Carrier rules and eBay rules apply in addition to ours. A product that we can store may still be refused by a carrier or restricted by eBay, so please check those rules too. Start here:
- eBay’s prohibited and restricted items policy
- USPS Publication 52: Hazardous, Restricted, and Perishable Mail
Other carriers publish their own rules.
If these goods arrive
This section applies to goods that we do not accept, and to goods from the second list that arrive without our agreement. We may hold them, return them at the sender’s cost or dispose of them as the law requires.
